My Coffee Machine Assist

quick tips

  • Prime the Water Circuit Through the Hot-Water Spout

If your Magnifica Evo has run out of water, the tank has been removed while empty, or the machine is displaying the empty water-circuit indication, don't repeatedly press a coffee button.

Fill and correctly refit the water tank, then make sure the removable hot-water spout is fully inserted into its connector. Place a container underneath and select hot water. The machine uses this route to refill the internal hydraulic circuit.

If the pump can be heard but no water initially appears, allow the machine to complete the requested filling operation rather than interrupting it.

  • Only Adjust the Grinder While It Is Grinding

If espresso is coming through one drop at a time, extremely slowly, or not at all, the Magnifica Evo may be grinding too finely.

Start a coffee and only turn the grinder adjustment dial while the grinder is actually operating. Make a small adjustment towards a coarser setting.

Don't expect the next cup to show the full change immediately. The machine needs approximately 2 coffees before the adjustment becomes apparent.

If coffee already has a normal continuous flow, don't adjust the grinder simply because you want a stronger drink — use the aroma/intensity setting instead.

  • Remove the Infuser Only When the Machine Is Correctly Shut Down

The Magnifica Evo's brewing unit is removable, but its position inside the machine matters.

Switch the machine off using its normal ON/standby control and allow the shutdown sequence to finish. Remove the water tank, open the infuser door and press the two coloured release buttons inward while pulling the infuser towards you.

Rinse it using water only. Do not use washing-up liquid and do not put the infuser in a dishwasher.

If it won't come out, don't force it. Refit the tank, switch the machine on, allow it to initialise and then shut it down correctly before trying again.

  • Clean the LatteCrema Carafe Beyond the Automatic CLEAN Cycle

On Magnifica Evo models equipped with LatteCrema, running the carafe's CLEAN operation after a milk drink is important, but it doesn't replace periodically dismantling the milk system.

Remove the milk container lid and the removable milk components and clean the internal milk pathways carefully. Check the milk intake tube and milk outlet for dried residue.

If the machine is dispensing milk but producing large bubbles, weak foam or inconsistent frothing, cleaning these components should be one of the first checks.

Start milk drinks with milk at approximately 5°C for the best frothing performance.

  • If the Descale Cycle Won't Finish, Fill the Tank Right to MAX

On the applicable Magnifica Evo ECAM29X descaling programme, the machine performs the main descaling stage followed by fresh-water rinses.

During each requested rinse, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water right up to MAX.

If there isn't enough water in the tank to complete the rinse, the Magnifica Evo can request a third rinse. This doesn't necessarily mean the descaling programme has failed — refill the tank completely to MAX and complete the additional rinse.

If a water-softener filter was removed before descaling, reinstall it at the appropriate rinse stage specified for your version.

  • Empty the Grounds Container While the Machine Is On

When the Magnifica Evo asks you to empty the coffee grounds container, remove the drip tray and grounds container together while the machine is switched on.

Empty the grounds container completely, clean it and refit it with the drip tray.

The machine counts prepared coffees electronically; it doesn't measure how physically full the container is. If you empty the grounds container while the machine is switched off, the count may not reset correctly, meaning the machine can request that it be emptied again even though you've already done it.

FAQ's

  • Why is my Magnifica Evo grinding beans but not dispensing coffee?

First determine whether water can still pass through the machine.

If hot water is available but coffee is not, inspect the coffee spouts for blockage and consider whether the coffee is ground too finely.

If coffee is emerging extremely slowly or only drop-by-drop, adjust the grinder while it is operating and assess the result over the next few coffees.

If there is no water delivery from any function, the problem may instead involve the water supply or an empty hydraulic circuit.

  • Why isn't my Magnifica Evo frothing milk properly?

On milk-carafe versions, poor foam is often associated with contamination or incorrect assembly of the milk system.

Remove the milk carafe and dismantle its removable components. Clean them thoroughly, paying particular attention to the areas through which milk and air pass.

Reassemble the carafe correctly and make sure it is securely connected to the machine.

Milk temperature also affects frothing performance, so start with properly chilled milk.

  • Why does my Magnifica Evo descale light keep coming back?

First make sure the previous descaling programme was allowed to finish completely.

The machine must complete the required fresh-water rinse stages before the procedure is considered finished.

If the machine requests another rinse immediately after descaling, fill the water tank completely to MAX and complete the additional rinse.

If the descale warning appears unusually frequently during normal use, check that the programmed water-hardness setting matches your actual water hardness.
