    Every coffee bean behaves differently. Bean Adapt Technology adjusts brewing parameters to suit the beans you're using, helping improve extraction without endless trial and error. Whenever you switch to a different roast or origin, run Bean Adapt again for the best flavour.

  • Clean the milk carafe after every milk drink

    Milk residue begins drying inside the frother surprisingly quickly. Turn the milk frother dial to CLEAN immediately after making milk drinks so the machine flushes the internal circuit. At the end of the day, dismantle the milk carafe and wash all removable components.

  • Don't adjust the grinder while it's idle

    Only change the grind setting while the grinder is actually grinding beans. Moving the adjustment wheel with stationary burrs can damage the grinder mechanism or leave it difficult to turn.

  • Replace the water filter regularly

    A fresh De'Longhi water filter helps reduce limescale and improves coffee flavour. Replace the filter whenever prompted by the machine or approximately every two months depending on water usage and hardness.

  • Descale as soon as the machine asks

    The descale reminder isn't simply a timer—it estimates scale build-up based on your water hardness settings. Ignoring descale reminders can reduce water flow, increase brewing temperatures and eventually trigger operational faults.

  • Empty the grounds container only when the machine is on

    Always remove and empty the coffee grounds container with the machine switched on. This allows the PrimaDonna Soul to correctly reset its internal coffee puck counter and prevents unnecessary "Empty grounds container" messages.

  • Why does my coffee taste weak?

    First check your grind setting and Bean Adapt profile. A grind that's too coarse or beans that haven't been optimised can reduce extraction. Also ensure you're using fresh beans and increasing the aroma (strength) setting if required.

  • Why won't the machine make milk properly?

    Check that the milk carafe is fully assembled, the milk intake tube is fitted correctly and the frother has been cleaned. Cold fresh milk generally produces the best foam, while partially blocked milk circuits often cause poor frothing.

  • Can I save my own coffee recipes?

    Yes. PrimaDonna Soul allows multiple personalised user profiles where drink size, coffee strength, milk quantity and temperature can all be stored for quick one-touch preparation.

  • How to Clean the Milk System

    Cleaning the milk system after every use keeps milk flowing properly and prevents hygiene issues.

    1. Leave the milk carafe attached after preparing a milk drink.
    2. Place a container beneath the milk spout.
    3. Turn the froth adjustment dial to CLEAN.
    4. Allow the automatic rinse cycle to complete.
    5. At the end of each day remove the milk carafe.
    6. Separate all removable milk components.
    7. Wash every part in warm water or place dishwasher-safe parts in the dishwasher if permitted.
    8. Reassemble carefully before the next use.

    Engineer Tip: If milk quality starts deteriorating, a thorough manual clean usually restores performance before any deeper troubleshooting is needed.

  • Bean Adapt & Grinder Adjustment

    The PrimaDonna Soul is designed to work with Bean Adapt Technology.

    When changing coffee beans:

    1. Open the Bean Adapt menu.
    2. Select the type of beans you're using.
    3. Follow the on-screen guidance.
    4. Adjust the grinder only while beans are being ground.
    5. Make small adjustments—usually one click at a time.
    6. Allow two or three coffees before judging the result, as coffee retained inside the grinder needs to clear first.

    Avoid making large grinder adjustments all at once, as this can lead to inconsistent extraction.

  • Changing the Water Filter

    1. Remove the water tank.
    2. Remove the old filter if fitted.
    3. Soak the new filter in clean water until air bubbles stop.
    4. Fit the filter securely into the tank.
    5. Refill the tank with fresh water.
    6. Reinstall the tank.
    7. Enter Settings → Water Filter.
    8. Confirm a new filter has been installed.
    9. Follow the automatic priming instructions until complete.

    Replacing the filter regularly helps reduce limescale, improves coffee flavour and can extend the time between descaling cycles.
