Start With a Full Power Reset
Switch the machine off and unplug it from the wall for around 10 minutes. While it is disconnected, remove the capsule and empty the used-capsule container if accessible. Reconnect the machine directly to a wall socket and try starting it again. A full power cycle can clear temporary electronic or operating-state problems.
Check the Water Tank Is Properly Seated
Remove the water tank, fill it with fresh water and refit it firmly. Make sure the tank sits correctly against the machine and that its outlet valve is not obstructed. If the machine powers up but will not make coffee, an incorrectly fitted tank or lack of water flow can make the machine appear to have stopped working.
Remove the Capsule and Check the Brewing Area
Open the machine and remove any capsule. Check for a capsule that has become trapped, crushed or incorrectly positioned. Look around the capsule holder and brewing area for coffee residue or pieces of capsule foil that could interfere with closing, piercing or normal operation. Never reach into sharp capsule-piercing components.
Check What the Light Is Telling You
A machine that appears not to be working may actually be waiting for an action. A flashing, pulsing or differently coloured light can indicate heating, cleaning, descaling, an incorrectly closed head or another operating condition. Allow the machine to finish heating and check that all handles, levers or locking mechanisms are fully in their normal brewing position.
Test the Machine Without a Capsule
If the machine switches on normally but will not brew, remove the capsule and try running a water-only cycle where your model allows it. If water flows normally, concentrate your checks around the capsule, capsule holder and brewing mechanism. If no water comes through, the problem is more likely related to water supply, an airlock, scale or an internal flow restriction.
Consider Scale or an Airlock
If the machine powers on and makes normal operating noises but produces little or no water, the fault may be on the water side rather than the electronics. Refill and reseat the tank, then try the model's normal water or rinse operation. If the machine has not been descaled for some time, scale can also restrict water flow. Avoid repeatedly running the pump dry if no water is being drawn from the tank.

Start with the electrical supply. Test the wall socket with another appliance, reconnect the machine directly to the socket and check the power lead for visible damage. Leave the machine unplugged for around 10 minutes before trying again. If the socket is working and the machine remains completely unresponsive with no lights or sounds, it is more likely to require internal electrical diagnosis rather than further brewing or cleaning checks.
