Quick Tips

  • Saeco GranAroma Support

The Saeco GranAroma is a fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine built around a removable brew group, ceramic grinder, external milk carafe and colour display. Depending on the version, it offers up to 16 drinks and six user profiles, with CoffeeMaestro and Coffee Equalizer controls for adjusting drinks. Saeco

  • Let the machine complete its automatic rinse

The GranAroma automatically rinses its internal coffee circuit during normal operation. Allow the rinse to finish and keep the drip tray correctly fitted. Water collecting in the drip tray can therefore be part of normal operation rather than evidence of a leak.

  • Check the removable brew group regularly

The brew group sits behind the service door and can be removed for cleaning. Switch the machine off and allow it to finish its shutdown cycle before removing it. Rinse the brew group under lukewarm water, allow it to air-dry and refit it only when it is in the correct neutral position. Regular brew-group cleaning helps prevent poor coffee flow, unusual noises and brewing problems. Philips Documents

  • Use the HygieSteam function for the milk system

GranAroma models use an external milk carafe and HygieSteam cleaning system. After preparing milk drinks, run the milk-system cleaning process when prompted and keep the milk tube, carafe and associated components clean. Dried milk residue can restrict milk flow and cause weak or inconsistent froth. Saeco

  • Don't alter the grinder while it is stationary

The ceramic grinder has 12 adjustment positions. If you want to change the grind, make small adjustments while the grinder is actually grinding beans. Allow several drinks before judging the result because the effect of a grinder adjustment is not always immediately apparent. Saeco

  • Keep the AquaClean setting matched to the filter

If an AquaClean filter is fitted, it needs to be activated through the machine rather than simply placed in the water tank. Replace the filter when the machine requests it. Correct use can substantially reduce scale accumulation and extend the interval before descaling is required. Saeco

  • Follow the display before assuming there is a fault

The GranAroma uses its display to guide you through maintenance and alert you when something needs attention. Requests to add water, add beans, empty the grounds container, insert the brew group or carry out cleaning should be dealt with first. If the machine stops preparing coffee, read the complete on-screen message before switching it off or dismantling anything. Philips Documents

FAQ's

FAQ's

  • Why is my Saeco GranAroma not making coffee?

Start with the message shown on the display. Check that the water tank contains water, the bean hopper contains beans, the grounds container and drip tray are correctly installed and the brew group is properly seated. If the machine sounds as though it is operating but little or no coffee appears, clean the brew group and check whether the coffee circuit needs priming.

  • Why is my GranAroma milk froth poor?

Milk-system contamination is one of the first things to check. Run the HygieSteam cleaning process and inspect the milk tube and carafe components for dried milk or restrictions. Also make sure the carafe is assembled correctly and use cold milk for best results. The GranAroma uses LattePerfetto together with the external milk carafe to produce its milk foam. Saeco

  • Why is there water in my GranAroma drip tray?

Some water in the drip tray is normal. The machine uses water during automatic rinsing and internal cleaning, and some of this is directed into the tray. If the tray fills unusually quickly, water appears underneath the machine or water escapes somewhere it normally wouldn't, investigate it as a possible leak rather than routine rinse water.

Fault Codes

Fault Codes

  • Fault Codes & Warning Messages

The GranAroma can display error codes when it detects a condition it cannot resolve through its normal prompts.

  • Error 01 — Coffee funnel blocked

The coffee funnel may be obstructed by ground coffee. Switch the machine off, remove the brew group and inspect the coffee funnel. Clear loose compacted coffee carefully before refitting the brew group and restarting the machine.

  • Error 03 — Brew group dirty or poorly lubricated

The brew group may be contaminated or moving with excessive resistance. Remove it, rinse it thoroughly and allow it to dry. Check that its moving components operate correctly and lubricate the brew group where required before reinstalling it.

  • Error 04 — Brew group incorrectly positioned

The machine cannot correctly position the brew group. Remove the group if possible, close the service door and switch the machine off and back on so the internal drive can reset. Switch it off again before attempting to reinstall the brew group.

  • Error 05 — Water circuit problem

Air may be trapped in the water circuit or the machine may be unable to draw water correctly. Remove and refit the water tank and check that it contains sufficient water. If an AquaClean filter is installed, remove it temporarily and try dispensing hot water. A filter that has not been properly prepared can restrict water flow.

  • Other error codes

If another error remains after switching the machine off and back on, note the exact code before continuing. Persistent errors can indicate a fault requiring further diagnosis rather than routine cleaning or resetting. The GranAroma manual specifically provides troubleshooting guidance around its displayed error codes and machine status messages.

  • Milk System Cleaning

The GranAroma uses an external milk carafe, LattePerfetto milk preparation and the HygieSteam cleaning system. The carafe supplies milk through its tube to the internal milk path, allowing the machine to prepare drinks including cappuccino and latte macchiato automatically.

  • Brew Group Cleaning

The GranAroma has a removable brew group behind the service door.

Switch the machine off normally before removing it so the brew mechanism can return to its resting position. Remove the brew group and rinse it thoroughly under lukewarm running water. Pay particular attention to areas where ground coffee accumulates.

  • Descaling

The GranAroma monitors its maintenance requirements and will prompt when a descaling cycle is required.

When the descale warning appears, use the machine's guided descaling programme rather than simply running descaling solution through it as though making a drink. The programme controls the cleaning and rinsing stages required to clear scale from the internal water circuit.

  • Water Filter Change

The GranAroma is compatible with the AquaClean water filter.

A new filter needs to be prepared, fitted into the water tank and activated through the machine's menu so the GranAroma can monitor its use. Do not simply replace the physical filter without completing the machine's filter procedure.
