  • Saeco Xelsis Support

The Saeco Xelsis is a fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine built around personalised drink profiles, automatic milk preparation and guided maintenance. If your Xelsis is not dispensing correctly, producing poor milk foam or asking for attention, start with the checks below before assuming there is an internal fault.

  • Check the AquaClean filter if water flow becomes weak

If coffee or hot-water delivery has slowed, check the water tank and AquaClean filter first. An incorrectly prepared, blocked or exhausted filter can restrict the amount of water reaching the hydraulic system.

When fitting a new AquaClean filter, prepare it correctly before installation and follow the activation procedure shown by the machine. If the machine has already requested descaling, fitting a new filter does not remove the need to complete the descale programme.

  • Remove and clean the brew group regularly

The Xelsis uses a removable brew group. Switch the machine off correctly and allow it to finish its shutdown cycle before removing the group.

Rinse the brew group thoroughly with lukewarm water, paying particular attention to the coffee residue around the filter and moving sections. Allow it to air-dry before refitting it. Do not use washing-up liquid to clean the brew group.

If the brew group will not come out, refit the coffee grounds container and drip tray, close the service door and switch the machine off and back on. Let it return to its normal resting position before trying again.

  • Use HygieSteam to maintain the milk system

On Xelsis versions equipped with HygieSteam, use the automatic milk-system cleaning function regularly. Place the milk tube into the HygieSteam container when instructed and allow the programme to flush the milk circuit with steam.

Milk residue can quickly affect both milk delivery and foam quality. If the machine begins producing large bubbles, weak foam or little milk, clean the milk tube, cappuccinatore components and associated connections rather than simply increasing the milk setting.

  • Don't interrupt the descaling programme

When the Xelsis requests descaling, start the programme only when you have enough time to allow the complete procedure to finish.

Follow the instructions on the display and keep the water tank filled when requested. The machine controls the descale and rinse stages automatically. Switching the machine off or attempting to bypass part of the programme can leave it waiting for the unfinished cycle when restarted.

  • Check the grinder setting if coffee runs too quickly or slowly

The ceramic grinder can be adjusted if extraction is consistently too fast or too slow. Only change the grinder setting while the grinder is operating, and move it by one setting at a time.

A finer setting generally slows extraction and produces a stronger result, while a coarser setting increases flow. Make several coffees before judging the effect because the change is not fully apparent in the first cup.

Avoid making large grinder adjustments to compensate for a dirty brew group or restricted water circuit.

  • Let the display guide you before dismantling anything

One of the useful features of the Xelsis is its on-screen guidance. Messages can identify issues such as an empty water tank, full grounds container, missing brew group, open service door or maintenance requirement.

Complete the action shown on the display first. If the message remains after the requested action has been completed, restart the machine normally and then investigate the relevant component.

FAQ's

FAQ's

  • Why is my Saeco Xelsis not making coffee?

Start by reading any message or error code displayed on the screen. Check that the water tank contains enough water, the bean hopper contains beans, the brew group is correctly installed and the service door is closed. If the grinder operates but little or no coffee is dispensed, clean the brew group and check for restricted water flow. If the problem appeared after fitting an AquaClean filter, remove or correctly prepare the filter and test the machine again.

  • Why is my Saeco Xelsis milk foam poor?

Milk temperature and type affect foam quality, but contamination within the milk circuit is a common cause of deteriorating performance. Run the HygieSteam programme where fitted and thoroughly clean the milk tube and milk-system components. Check that the tube is fully connected and is not split, kinked or obstructed.

  • Why does my Saeco Xelsis keep asking me to empty the coffee grounds container?

The machine counts coffee cycles rather than physically measuring how full the container is. Empty the grounds container while the machine is switched on so that the counter can reset correctly. Removing and emptying it while the machine is switched off may not reset the count.

Fault Codes

Fault Codes

  • Fault Codes & Messages

The Xelsis can display numerical error codes when it detects a problem that cannot be resolved through a normal user prompt.

  • Error 01 – Coffee funnel blocked

Ground coffee may be preventing beans or coffee from moving correctly through the funnel. Switch the machine off and clean the coffee funnel before restarting it.

  • Error 03 – Brew group dirty or not properly lubricated

Remove the brew group, rinse it thoroughly and check that it can move freely. Once dry, lubricate the appropriate moving sections with suitable food-safe brew-group grease before reinstalling it.

  • Error 04 – Brew group incorrectly positioned

The brew group may not be in its neutral position or may not have seated correctly. Remove it if possible, reset the machine so the internal drive returns to its normal position and then reinstall the brew group.

  • Error 05 – Air in the water circuit

Check that the water tank is correctly fitted and contains sufficient water. If an AquaClean filter is installed, remove it temporarily and restart/prime the machine. A filter that has not been prepared correctly can introduce or trap air within the water circuit.

  • Clean the Milk System

The Xelsis uses its automatic milk system to prepare drinks such as cappuccino and latte macchiato. Keeping the milk tube, milk circuit and HygieSteam system clean is essential for consistent milk delivery and foam quality.

  • Clean the Brew Group

The Xelsis uses a removable brew group that can be taken out through the service door for regular cleaning. Coffee residue around the brew group can affect movement, extraction and eventually trigger brew-group related errors.

  • Descale Your Xelsis

The Xelsis monitors scale management and provides a guided descaling programme through its display. When the machine requests descaling, the complete programme should be followed rather than attempting to clear the warning separately.

  • Change the AquaClean Filter

The Xelsis supports the AquaClean water-filter system and keeps track of filter use through its settings. A replacement filter needs to be correctly prepared, installed and activated through the machine so that filter monitoring continues correctly.
