quick tips

  • Never Ignore the Descale Reminder

The Dinamica Plus monitors water usage and will prompt you when descaling is required. Delaying the descale programme allows limescale to build inside the thermoblock and water circuit, leading to slower brewing, cooler coffee and potential pump problems.

  • Clean the LatteCrema System After Every Milk Drink

After making a milk-based drink, use the Clean function before returning the milk jug to the fridge. This flushes milk residue from the internal pipework and greatly reduces blockages, poor frothing and hygiene issues.

  • Adjust the Grinder Only Whilst Grinding

If your coffee pours too quickly or tastes weak, adjust the grinder one click finer only while the grinder is running. Likewise, if coffee dispenses very slowly, move one click coarser. Leave two or three coffees before judging the result.

  • Remove and Rinse the Brewing Unit Weekly

The brewing unit is the heart of the machine. Switch the machine off, remove the infuser and rinse it thoroughly using warm water only. Allow it to dry naturally before reinstalling. Avoid detergents or dishwashers.

  • Replace the Water Filter When Prompted

If you use the De'Longhi water filter, replace it whenever the machine recommends or approximately every two months. A fresh filter improves taste while reducing limescale build-up throughout the hydraulic system.

  • Empty the Drip Tray Before It's Full

The drip tray fills during rinsing and cleaning cycles, not just when making coffee. Empty it regularly even if the indicator has not yet risen to prevent accidental spills when removing the tray.

FAQ's

  • Why is my Dinamica Plus making weak coffee?

Weak coffee is usually caused by a coarse grind setting, stale beans or coffee strength being set too low. Check that fresh beans are being used, increase the aroma setting if required and gradually adjust the grinder finer while it is actively grinding.

  • Why won't my Dinamica Plus froth milk properly?

Poor milk frothing is normally caused by milk residue inside the LatteCrema carafe or using milk that isn't cold enough. Always run the automatic Clean cycle after preparing milk drinks and fully dismantle and wash the milk components regularly.

  • Why does my Dinamica Plus keep asking to descale?

The descale reminder is based on water hardness and machine usage rather than visible scale. If the reminder returns sooner than expected, check the water hardness setting and confirm the previous descaling cycle was completed fully without interruption.

fault codes

  • Descale

The machine has detected limescale build-up inside the hydraulic circuit.

    What to do:

    • Run the complete descaling programme.
    • Use genuine De'Longhi EcoDecalk.
    • Never interrupt the cycle once it has started.
  • Fill Water Tank

The machine cannot detect sufficient water.

    Check:

    • Refill the tank.
    • Ensure it is fully pushed into position.
    • Check the inlet valve moves freely.
  • Empty Grounds Container

The coffee grounds container has reached capacity.

    Check:

    • Empty the container.
    • Replace it while the machine remains switched on.
    • Also empty the drip tray if required.
  • Insert Grounds Container

The grounds container has not been fitted correctly.

    Check:

    • Reinsert until fully located.
    • Ensure the drip tray is also installed correctly.
  • Insert Infuser

The brewing unit has been removed or is not correctly fitted.

  • How to Clean the LatteCrema Milk System

The Dinamica Plus features De'Longhi's LatteCrema automatic milk system, which should be cleaned after every milk-based drink to maintain hygiene and consistent frothing.

    After Every Milk Drink

    1. Leave the milk carafe connected to the machine.
    2. Turn the froth adjustment dial on the milk carafe to the CLEAN position.
    3. The machine will flush hot water and steam through the milk circuit, removing milk residue from the internal pipes.
    4. Wait until the cleaning cycle finishes before removing the milk carafe.
    5. Store any remaining milk in the refrigerator.

Running the Clean cycle after every use helps prevent dried milk from blocking the frothing system and maintains smooth milk delivery.

  • Adjusting the Coffee Grinder

The Dinamica Plus allows the coffee grind to be adjusted to suit different beans and personal taste.

    Important

Only adjust the grinder while it is actively grinding coffee. Turning the adjustment dial when the grinder is stationary can damage the grinding mechanism.

    To Adjust the Grind

    1. Prepare a coffee so the grinder is running.
    2. Open the bean hopper lid.
    3. Locate the grinder adjustment dial inside the bean hopper.
    4. Turn the dial one click at a time:

Turn towards a lower number for a finer grind and stronger, slower extraction.

Turn towards a higher number for a coarser grind and faster extraction.

    5. Make two or three coffees before deciding whether further adjustment is needed.
  • Changing the Water Filter

Using a genuine De'Longhi water filter reduces limescale build-up and helps improve coffee flavour.

    Fitting a New Filter

    1. Remove the water tank from the machine.
    2. Remove the old filter if one is installed.
    3. Immerse the new filter in fresh water and gently rotate it until air bubbles stop escaping.
    4. Insert the filter firmly into its housing inside the water tank.
    5. Fill the tank with fresh drinking water.
    6. Refit the water tank to the machine.

    Activate the Filter

    After fitting a new filter:

    • Open the machine's Settings menu.
    • Select the Water Filter option.
    • Confirm that a new filter has been installed when prompted.
    • The machine will dispense water to prime the filter and remove any trapped air.

    When to Replace

Replace the filter whenever the machine prompts you or approximately every two months, depending on water usage and local water hardness.

    A fresh filter helps:

    • Reduce limescale inside the hydraulic system.
    • Improve coffee flavour.
    • Extend the life of internal components.
    • Reduce the frequency of descaling.
